Mixed Media 1

Drawing is made easy in this beginning studio course. Students are introduced to basic drawing skills, design techniques, and color theory. Students who complete this course are qualified to enroll in Mixed Media 2.

Major Projects

1. Ebony Pencil Still Life: focusing on gray values, tones, highlights and shadows.

2. Tempera Painting: the use of complimentary color pairs.

3. Hand Gestures And Their Shadows: using prisma color pencils.

4. Tarot Card Mixed Media: what does the future hold for you? Creating your own Tarot card.

5. Assemblage: students express a personal statement, conviction, or narrative that might apply to them by compiling and composing found objects.

6. Expressive Self Portraits: using pencil, watercolor and prisma color.
